Greetings and welcome to Cleveland. The drum and bass scene in Cleveland has a small but strong following. There is a weekly drum-n-bass night at Spy Bar on West 9th in downtown Cleveland on Wednesday nights, though I heard this is ending in December . Hive and the Violence crew will be there in November (the 23rd... peep the "Drum Riot" thread in the Events listing).
There aren't too many other outlets right now for DnB unfortunately... Mike Filly throws saturday night events at Mercury Lounge on West 9th downtown sometimes that feature big-names such as Nu:Tone, Logistics, John B. etc. London Elektricity is coming this friday and D-Bridge is coming soon. Again, peep the events listings. Openers are usually locals. There is a lack of a large market for DnB and all EDM in general in Cleveland which is unfortunate. This board is useful for keeping for staying in the know though so I'm glad you found it.
The record store where I shop, and many local DJ's shop is Grand Poo-Bas in Lakewood (the 1st suburb west of Cleveland). The owner, Doug, is a nice guy and a staple of the EDM scene in Cleveland. Brent, a local DnB dj who goes by "Still Life" is there to assist you with all your DnB merchandising needs. You can reach them at (216) 521-9177. They're happy to get whatever records you like and they have listening stations all over the store to preview music.
As far as how things are done, it's a small scene and so there's essentially the mentality that if you've got some skills and you make it a point to come out to show support and love for other DJ's that you will inevitably be asked to play at one point or another. I'd make some mixes and hand them out to people to spread the word. Everyone is very chill and in general, it's a positive scene.
Hope to see you out sometime. Look for a short beefy asian kid and say hi!
