We won't because no other events have this anti-drug/War on Drugs/Just Say No/D.A.R.E. propoganda stigmatizing attached to them like "raves" do.

The truth is there's likely more people killed by drunk drivers surrounding sports events than from drug overdoses at "rave" events.

And what IS up with the report from Utah about the 17 year old girl who "overdosed" on ecstacy at the raid. What's the definition of overdose? What is considered an ecstacy overdose? From what I've read, the danger of ecstacy really isn't ecstacy poisoning or anything, but overheating and dehydration. Are there any known cases of ecstacy poisoning? Although, I know it's possible to OD on anything... including water. If you drink too much water you can throw your Potassium levels and other minerals out of balance and die.

Personally, the people who need excasty to have a good time to EDM are lame. Although I'm not innocent of doing X a couple of times back in 99' and 00'. But you shouldn't need drugs to experience a groove. House comes within the mind, body and soul. Taking drugs to enhance the need to dance, I would rather be sober and have a O.K. time to a DJ I like, than be on drugs.

Tiesto was DJing at the opening of Six Flags in Paris, France. The scene was middle age couple's with young children. I remember reading an interview that he was pretty hesitant of playing a show to such a crowd. But I guess the whole crowd was into it, WITHOUT ANY KIND OF DRUGS.

If you need to take drugs to experience an event, then you aren't really experiencing the event.

Just like baseball players or any pro athlete, that takes steriods. You are cheating the true meaning of entertainment and the purest aspect of the game, which is the game itself.

But it is still fucked up how the cops handled the Utah event. Even if there were drugs.

What's really kinda fishy about the 2 people who ODed or whatnot was that they were treated on the scene and sent home from what i've heard. If a person had ODed they would be taken to a hospital and a doctor would have had to make that official ruling (not EMS or a police officer) and they would have most likely been kept overnight. I also listened to a girl speaking on an internet radio show who said one of the girls who supposedly ODed didn't OD but had a panic attack.

the only 'OD' stories I've heard that aren't overheating/dehydration related are from pills that were allegedly MDMA or MDA but really contained something else.

what the fuck does this have to do with the price of cheese in denmark? as someone who has admitted to the use of mdma, this is a bit of a pot. kettle. black. statement. i'm sorry, but how the hell do you get off making judgements about other people's personal choices? just b/c you decided to outtgrow your own interest in drug use doesn't mean that you now have the right to chastize others for not doing the same. maybe people don't "need" drugs, maybe they just enjoy them.

its sort of like going to a movie and getting popcorn. do you really need butter flavoured obesity in a bag for $5? no. do you order it anyway b/c its sort of yummy and part of the movie going tradition? yes. without it can you still enjoy the movie? sure. are you going to the movie just to consume the popcorn? no. does eating the popcorn in any way invalidate the movie going experiance just b/c it was an unnecessary addition to your enjoyable evening? no.

the same holds true with drug use. do people need them? no. can they enhance an experiance? sure. just b/c you enjoy them does that mean you are not truely enjoying the music/event? no. essentially there are a lot of things that people do for fun, along with other fun things, b/c two great tastes can taste great together. its like getting whipped creme on your hot chocolate or having sex in the ass...both hot chocolate and sex are great on their own...but its the little extras that can make life grand sometime.

in addition your statements you are condemming 7/8ths of this messege board. with the exception of a few here and there most people go out and enjoy their music in a club/bar and also enjoy a drink or two. just because its legal, do you think alcohol isn't a drug? does my redbull and vodka concotion mean that me enjoying music and dancing is somehow not as worthwhile an experience? or maybe i just enjoy electronic music events. i also enjoy having a drink every now and then. just b/c one combines the two doesn't mean one is using the latter as a means to enjoy the former. nor does it mean that one couldn't enjoy the former without the latter.

sorry, i know the above was slightly off topic, but overyly judgemental asshat-ery just rubs me the wrong way.

p.s. this amused me:

Price of Kikwear pants that were ruined from a dog's bite: $70
Price of Drugs swallowed before they can get you: $350
Amount of tax dollars spent on a Huge Drug Bust: $1.8 Million
Getting a picture of the national guard at the decks?

....Priceless

First off, RUFAST?, I am not condoning the use of ecstacy, but I also feel there's been a major puritan, anti-feel-good theme going on, rooted in religious fundamentalism, in this country since its inception. Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness*

*as long as it doesn't feel good.

Second, Steph, the articles put out by the au-thor-oh-ties stated that a 17 year old girl was found in an overdosed condition, taken to a hospital, treated, and released to her parents.

I'm moving the "off-topic" discussion into its own thread. I have some comments to make as well Wink

on second thought, this is so intertwined that it is hard to split.

I'll post my comments in a different thread.

I hope their legal representative gets the utmost justice for this abusive infringement upon these free citizens' rights.
