Do you think we should have an area just for mixes?? With all the Dj stuff going to one section now the mixes get lost really fast. Just an idea.

Keeping dj related discussion out of the main forum has been good. Lumping all the dj related news stories in with the dj section has been the trade-off.

I was thinking "music discussion" and "music resources" is close. All the idle chatter in one forum, and all the "we put out a new track" and "check out my mix" in another.

Of course I may be forgetting something or there might be a better way of thinking. Anyone want to suggest names & descriptions??

The jukebox is cool, but I was thinking of names that compliment each other. That way there is less confusion about what goes where.


The Club
The Record Store

At the Club
Afterhours

The Club
The Game

The Jukebox
The Studio

Another thought I had was to maybe incorporate the music in with all general promotion... like kinda a classifieds section.

Basically Charts, Mixes, New Releases, should all be in one forum - and all the dj chatter in another.

The Groupie
The Artist

DJ Idol
Music Heads

Just throwing out some ideas there. If you can find a good counter for "The Jukebox" that gets accross the point that they are related areas but yet specific to certain topics - then that would be awesome!

But promoters and producers are two different animals, so that's going to be difficult if not impossible to link them in some way other than what I suggested.

Why do these factions have to compliment each other?

Not all of the other areas are (re)lated.

Unless you mean to (re)name all the areas to be "The ________" or something.

I think I've been (re)ading too many of Paul's posts, BTW. Laughing

Well, since all dj related chat does not belong in Forbidden City - it needs to be clear that all chatter that is not directly related to actual music goes in one place, and the rest of the "watercooler" talk goes in another place.

It seems to me that there would be a creative way to do this, I'm just not feeling creative at the moment Wink

Of course I'm probably thinking too hard about it, but I really don't think we want the "oakey gunned down by flying chimp" threads mixed with the music news, links, setlists, charts, etc. Technically there should be 3 sections but I don't want to get overcrowded.

The Jukebox (music links, d/l, streams, online radio, FM radio)

and "The Studio and The Club ((or something))" (for Producer, DJ, and Music discussion)

and make Promoters a private Usergroup just for promoters where they can "reserve" dates, and ask others not to throw events on those dates and not to let whatever is said in Promoters outside of that area... and other stuff like that that has been discussed in the past.

We have events, which is technically "at the club". We have The Sandbox, which is unrelated to nightlife but still a great name. Therefore the jukebox is totally acceptable. The promoter's private group is cool, and I'd be willing to give it a try, but when you have people intentinally bringing out of town djs into the city to compete against each other I think there is more needed than a forum because they wouldn't discuss it anyways. One aspect of what remains is social, but the bulk of it seems to be behind the scenes discussion (fixing turntables, studio questions, etc). I'm still thinking there is a creative way to do this that no one has suggested yet Wink

Gee I dunno why don't you just call it THE MIX SECTION. Or THE PRODUCER TRACK AREA.

You guys spend WAYYYYYY to much time trying to be cute with all this stupid naming criteria b.s.

No other forum I use waste this much hot air on what to name the forums. They spend more time you know talking about real stuff that matters.

Just make the downloads, streams and radio section and worry about the name later - don't make the different forums (and/or names) so complex that people can't figure out where their post belongs easily. will save the mods a lot of work.
