Saw this posted on DOA last week, nice documentary about the break although a little bland. It amazes me that after twenty years or so the Amen is still being used in music and is now being used in commercials. Love live the Amen (and the rarely mentioned but just as popular Think break). _________________

a little bland? i think this thing is brilliant! the film uses the "amen" to raise issues concerning legal dilemmas with the common artistic method of borrowing/rearranging existing works to create new expressions versus the increasingly stringent copyright laws that have been implemented over the past couple of decades. this is is important shiite man. history in the making. sampling anything from the 20th century has becoming virtually illegal thanks to copyright laws. this film does a wonderful job of not only illustrating the cultural significance of the amen, breakbeats, jungle, but sample based music, and ultimately the pitfalls of overly strict copyright control. _________________ Suburban
