SPINUTOPIA LLC: DJ MIX COMPETITION 2011
Launched at Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival during Memorial Day weekend, SpinUtopia unveiled its DJ Mix Competition to the public. This is the third installment of a series of mix competitions held by the global professional networking website for electronic dance music. With the past two winners opening for international artists Marcus Schossow and Richard Vission, this competition’s champion will receive more than ever before. The grand prize winner will acquire a brand new Pioneer Nexus DJM-900 Mixer, 100 CDs duplicated by SpinUtopia with custom graphics, SpinUtopia merchandise and a booking to play at one of six upcoming city launch events (location to be announced).
Mix submissions may be up to 30 minutes long and all genres of electronic dance music are accepted. All submissions must be created by the applicant and specifically made for this competition. Website users will then get the chance to vote for their favorite mix. The number of votes cast by the public will determine the top 20 mixes. Following the selection of users, the top 10 mixes will be decided by a panel of judges including chart-topping artists Anthony Attalla, Richard Vission, JJ Flores and Donald Glaude. Judging will be based on creativity, technical ability, track selection and general programming.
Mixes must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2011 to qualify. Voting will end on July 15, 2011 with the top 20 announced on July 17, 2011. The panel of judges will then identify the top 10 and declare the winner on August 1, 2011. Those who place second through 10th will also receive prizes.
