My sister picked this week of all weeks to go visit a friend in Houston... they are probably going about 1 MPH toward Dallas right about now. Ugh.

Thanks everyone!! We are still really worried. We sat in the car for over 24hrs trying to leave Houston. All the gas stations were running out of gas and we thought we were screwed so we heading back home for tonight. The closest hotel we could find was is Little Rock, AR, and there is now way to get enough gas to make it there. It's a pretty f* up situation. We are right back in storms way but better inside an apt. than stuck out in a car with no gas.
It was one hell of a day today, I've never seen anything like it. People were all over the roads, broke down, no gas, just out walking dogs, it felt like a movie. I just hope the storm isn't too bad because I know that there are a ton of people now stuck on the side of the road with no where to go. Confused

So were are all settled down at the crib. Just went out and bought a case of beer and a few Sparks, oh and some food and water too. But hopefully this thing moves East a bit and misses us with the direct hit.
People are dying buy the side of the road. They've run out of gas and water and no one is coming to help them, it was about 100 outside yesterday and people turned A/C off to save gas, this could have been us but we turned back. Some people that are getting picked up by the buses can't take their pets. It's totally fucked here. Too many people tried to evacuate and didn't need to and the freeways couldn't handle it. Now people that need to, like us, can't get out. There is no gas and no way to make it any place safe before the storm hits. Our apartment is in the flood plain, we are right on the waters of Clear lake, which is part of the Galviston Bay. Let's hope for the best, atleast we are on the second floor and I still have some beer!! :wink:

Wow I can't believe that I ACTUALLY got through earlier today!! I'm glad everything is well so far and I hope and pray that you guys remain safe and once when this is all over come back to Cleveland for a bit...as you can see there are quite a few things jumping off next month!

Yep, we have power!! It went on and off a few times last night, but nothing too bad. The river we are on, that feeds Clear Lake and Galevston Bay, is almost sucked dry. We were worried about flooding, but since it hit on the other side it pulled all our water out to hit East TX and LA again. It's pretty wild. Lots downed trees and someone's porch and patio got taken out by a tree, but other than lots of leaves it's all good around here.
Man, glad we headed home back home!! If we would have stayed in traffic we would have been right where that sucker hit. Glad we chose to come back. Now we have gas and food and are not stuck in some shelter without our cats. AND I STILL HAVE BEER!! :wink:
