yeah everythings been peachy back here in boston. the scene is a bit slow, but i'm sure you all might be able to relate. there is a solid crew of people at the center of the movement... some really talented dj's and producers who are doing amazing, forward thinking work. but the problem is, there's not much of a scene to support the saturation of talent. the clubs will get packed for your typical a-list dj's, but aside from that it's hit or miss in terms of good clubbing opportunities.
i'm lucky to have my gig over at rise, as the venue is amazing and so are the owners. no bs, no attitude, no sketchiness... just a crowd of music dorks looking to get down and have fun. what more could a musician ask for, you know? we continue to see amazing talent pass through our booth, with some of my favorite sets of the past year coming from tyler stadius, fred everything, paolo mojo, luke fair, and resident steve porter. when deep dish played at avalon, they came by rise afterward and played a 3 hour set. when danny howells was at avalon, he came to rise and tag teamed with sean cusick who was already booked for the night. so the room itself is amazing and has played host to some pretty special events. i am lucky to be a part of such an amazing effort.
and other than all that fun jazz, i continue to sell my soul to the devil, working my 9-5 with a super corporate big pharma company. but it pays the bills and gives me the flexibility to act like a moron when i'm not in my suit and tie. no complaints from me. but i'm looking to make it out to cleveland soon, hopefully before the end of the year. and if any of you are in boston, be sure to look me up.
