Obviously since I let the cat out of the bag about my intentions for the scene, people will begin to have way more clout then me, so if anyone has any ideas in who we should all fully trust; PUT IT OUT THERE. I think quite a few people in the scene would make a better mediator then me. So why don't we start casting votes.

First vote calls for Anthony Attillia (hope I spelled that right)

I'm not sure why I got sucked into this thread, but WHY does Cleveland dance music need a savior? In what alternate world does a scene live and die on the actions of a single person? There are plenty of people across crowds and genres doing very good things in this city, and while we would all like to see more cross-pollenation to some degree I can't find a single argument for getting behind one person or crew.

The problems of here and now are not the result of people not trying. They are more endemic than that. All of this savior business is for the birds. :penguin:

Okay then, its settled. Damon Havill is now the new pope of the Cleveland scene. Get a big funny hat... you're going to need it.

I agree wholeheartedly. Anyone claiming to be a savior is merely a false prophet, and anyone following one is worse.

I do feel that there needs to be one thing that is bigger than all the smaller things currently going. I've explained this personally to many of you in the last month or so, and I'm not going to type it all out right now. I think the topic of "afterhours" is far more interesting to me today.

You do know I was just throwing a name out there, but seriously, there is so many promoters out there stomping on toes that everybodies going to need crutches before long. A good example that I didn't get to go see, was Logistics, Ravers and Heads hand in hand, because Cloud 9 was the only other club doing anything

Damon is still the Pope, but we gotta let him slide on premarital sex, otherwise we all know what happens then

A quote that should apply to this situation is taken from Prince...guess the movie(this should be an easy one)....

"No one man should be ruler..."

A harder question is name the song that quote is used in...(Derek time to do some research)

A better alternative would be if we could get the promoters to agree upon maybe getting onto a secured forum, maybe here on Nightlife, and talk on conference about their up and coming events

I think that does happen all the time on here, and all the time out at events.

As far as trust, trust the music, trust a good-time. Where that can be found, is where the good things lie (and I suppose it's different for everyone)

The problem really lies in thoughs that are so self centered that they don't even take the time to find out from other Promoters whether or not there are events planned for the same night. Sure you could SAY that it just worked out better for you to plan your event the same night as someone else, but come on, who were you really thinking about? YOUR DAMN SELF. PERIOD. And that goes for everybody, no matter how long you been doing this, how many events you held, and how many WHATEVER you think your got. Start acting responsible for your actions, instead of thinking your better than someone else, because NOBODY HERE IS ANY BETTER THAN ANYBODY, we are all equals. Face the music, it purifies

well, it's kinda true.

in pittsburgh, there are very tightly knit groups that all work with each other. coincidentally, we're all friends with each other as well.

i.e.: full house + soulglo + nightvision + dynamix + focused motives

full house digs deep and finds the best local talent with a local headliner for monthly events. dynamix brings in the massive headliners on certain 'big weekends'. focused motives runs the best weekly saturday nights with solid headlining regional talent. nightvision used to have killer friday nights but work by supporting soulglo and dynamix. soulglo is like big brother. we all work together. we all respect each other.

here's a stupid example, but i don't see it anywhere else. when full house does its thang saturdays from 10-5am, the crowd from focused motives' night gets a stamped flyer, kicked out at 2am, and recieve a big discount at our door. the crowd benefits, both crews do as well.

cleveland is wayyyy clique-ier than pittsburgh. cleveland seems to be split by the day of the week.

*shrug* maven, it's different everywhere. sit back and watch what happens. you cannot force anything. no amount of promotion and marketing can bring everyone together. unfortunately, the scene is a student of darwin.

eh, I don't know...I think there's promoters in Cleveland that while they don't necessarily work together have some mutual respect for each other. There is some clique-y-ness here, with promoters who are friends with each other. I'd say most the crews that regularly post on this board try to look out for each other events somewhat, esp when they are in the same genre. And I' ve seen some people move stuff around...there's times where we have too. Granted sometimes bookings at the same time do happen by mistake sometimes (sorry brad again! ).

I mean I know Plate Tec has respect (at least I speak for myself here, the rest of Plate Tec may have their own ideas) for crews like goahead, headrush, koala-tea, stuff filly does, CMHA (lol  ), stuff brad does, stuff jude does, etc....I really could go on and on there, and I think we've tried to show it by going to their events, being aware of when they have things scheduled, being up front about when we're doing stuff. I think there's some go-betweeen between a lot of the PA and Cleveland crews as well.

I know a lot of people are booking things far in advance too....look at Filly's hospital lineups, goaheads events, koala-tea, etc....everyone has stuff posted for the next few months, and I think a lot of crews have settled into nights/monthlies as well to try and make things less confusing and consistent for each other as well as their audiences.

Maybe there's not all these spoken alliances, and outward pow-wows,but there is communication...it's just kind of a given among some (maybe it's underground like the music Laughing )

The more promoters get out in this city (as so many are) the more this seems to build and mesh.

eh,just my thoughts, everyone could have a totally different opinion, and that's alright by me.

The Savior is The Music

The Music is conceptualized by The Producers

The DJs promote The Producers

The Promoters spread The Scripture of The Idea

The Scripture appeals to The Scene

The Scene Begs For More

Where is the glitch here?

Somewhere in the cycle, somethings not quite right.

To many producers produce, just to produce. Production mean's more money. The religous act that music making should be, isn't always so, because of things like greed.

The DJ's spin to spin. Spinning, means, more money.

The promoters promote to promote. More promotion means more money.

Anyone see a theme.

Nothing in the cycle is broken. Only what is outside the cycle. You can't have eutopia in the middle of all of this totalitarianism.

Good ole' fashion armageddon is what we need.

I mean, who will survive, those of us that remain underground, or those of us that walk the earth with the other dead souls?

The Rave will Evolve to the state that you and I dear Maven invision in the far corners of our minds.

Strobe lights and lasers will flow freely through the underground tunnels.

The sounds of laughter will echo through more intensely than the beats that we will jam on our bare chests if need be.

We will ride in limbo upon the crests of alpha and theta.

And then we can play with our GI Joes...
